I was expecting for quite some time now that this will happen. Especially after introducing the “annotations” feature, I was aware that Youtube will soon implement some kind of video editor.
Well, they did, but this is REALLY simple. Don’t count on this if you want some decent editing, you’d better still use windows movie maker
.
In my opinion, it’s just a basic clip mixing tool, if you are logged into your Youtube account and go directly to the Youtube Editor it will automatically load all of your video clips.
Because the current limit of a clip is 10 minutes, it will warn you if it exceeds this limit.
You can drop some clips in the timeline and add a song from the AudioSwap library(no, you even can’t cut your song so it starts when you want…).
There are a LOT of songs to choose from. But with just the limited “drag and drop” and no further editing, it’s just not fun yet and it can’t replace your editing software.
And finally, there’s that trimming feature. The only real editing feature imo.
So basically this editing tool is just there to make a mix of clips and publish them as a new video. Very poor in feature though. But this is just the beginning, they just launched the tool. I’m sure they’re going to add more editing features in the near future.
