Details at "About" Page. Postez pe acest blog pur si simplu fiindca imi place si sunt dornic sa impartasesc cu toata lumea experimentele mele, filmarile, chestiile DIY si multe alte lucruri. Ma simt eu mai bine daca o fac :). Blogul este in engleza, fiind o limba de circulatie internationala. Cred ca majoritatea va descurcati sa o intelegeti ;). Details at "About" Page.

Laser+Syringe=> Microscope

Posted by sjackm on 24 February 2011

Well this is quite impressive: using just a laser and a drop of water you can project the microscopic world on a wall. That’s right, you can see bacteria and other small creatures moving through the water molecules.

DIY CD Solar Concentrator -attempt

Posted by sjackm on 11 August 2010

Well, I thought of building a solar concentrator out of cds, but it ended up being just a … “reflector”.

It could work by having something painted in black and placed in the center of this thing, but I’ll try to build a concentrator some time.

Here are the pictures:

Actually, just before sunset, a couple of the cds( I think about 3-4, but they are 12 !) reflected the light into one spot: it was super bright. Now I know that if I build this correctly, I can have a powerful concentrator that can heat things so much they can catch fire !

Exoplanet Atmosphere Roils with Superspeed Winds

Posted by sjackm on 24 June 2010

I found an interesting article today on www.scientificamerican.com. It is about an exoplanet located somewhere about 150 light-years away from us. That’s a lot, let me tell you: 1 light years is the distance traveled by light in that amount of time, and given the fact that light travels at almost 300.000 km/s, that means 9,460,730,472,580.8 km. Now you do the math for 150 light years ;) .

Scientists say(based on astronomical observations) that on this planets winds are pretty extreme: they reach 7000 km/h !

Imagine what destructive force has a wind of, let’s say, 200 km/h, here on Earth! It’d be impossible to live in such conditions.

If you want to read more, here’s the link to the article:

Fresnel Lens- Dangerous solar power! :))

Posted by sjackm on 26 April 2010

This is the most awesome solar-powered project I’ve ever seen in terms of the effects of such a contraption.

These fresnel lens are very practical due to their design. They’re very compact for their light focusing power.

Fresnel lensFocusing power, you ask? That’s just my word for this:

You’ll see cement turning red hot, melting glass, and water turning boiling hot in a matter of seconds!!!

They’re available for buying on ebay\amazon. Just search for “fresnel lens”. They’re very cheap.

Get LITHIUM( Li) from Rechargeable Batteries !

Posted by sjackm on 13 March 2010

So I was just scouting for some cool mini science projects on youtube, and I accidentally found this :

As it says in the video, you should rapidly put this metal in a jar, or even better, in mineral oil.  Being the first metal in its group, it’s( I think) the most reactive metal. It’s so reactive that it reacts just standing in the air ( you can see in the video that it gets black).

One can make awesome reactions with it or just burn it, it burns with a light comparable to that of sun. Have fun! ( if you have the money, these batteries are expensive =)) )
