The Mexico Gulf Oil Spill and Hurricane Alex

I’m sure a lot of you heard of the oil spill that took place in the Gulf of Mexico. If not, long story short:

Deep Water Horizon was a drilling rig in the Gulf Of Mexico built in 2001 and licensed to British Petroleum until 2013. In September 2009, the rig drilled the deepest oil well in history at a vertical depth of 35,050 ft (10,683 m). On April 20, 2010, when drilling at the Macondo Prospect, an explosion on the rig caused by a blowout killed eleven crewmen and ignited a fireball whose flames were visible from 35 miles away. The resulting fire could not be extinguished and, on April 22, 2010, Deepwater Horizon sank, leaving the well gushing at the sea floor and causing the largest offshore oil spill in United States history…(info from Wikipedia)

This oil spill has disastrous effects on the ecological equilibrium.  You can just search on google for images with animals trying to survive the crude oil. It’s just… sad.

Besides the sinister predictions that this oil slick is going to eventually travel across the Atlantic Ocean when it escapes the Gulf helped by ocean currents, now there’s a new threat: a hurricane.

Hurricane Alex, as it is named, is the first hurricane of 2010 that is forming in the Atlantic Ocean Basin. It’s yet too soon for meteorologists to say if the hurricane will pass through the oil spill or not. It may as well follow the path of its antecedent(the same-named hurricane from 2004) and not hit the area contaminated.

Anyway, if it happens, high speed winds will give birth to big waves that will accelerate the mixing of the oil with the ocean, and also help it go deeper. This mean faster biodegradation of the oil, but it will be disastrous for underwater ecological systems(like corals).  The oil will be spread over a higher surface, making it even more difficult to clean up the mess. Also, those waves have to go somewhere. When they eventually reach land, they will contaminate a large portion of the beaches with oil.

Also, ships that work hard to fix the problem around the well could be forced to get out of there if the hurricane hits.

I just hope all this catastrophe will end without any further damages to the ecosystem.

I think my dream just came true. This thing can keep you in the air about 30 minutes, it consumes regular gasoline you can buy at petrol stations, but it costs almost 90,000$. Read more on the link I provided.

NOI, ianuarie 2010

La sfarsitul lui ianuarie a fost lansat primul numar al ziarului NOI(de la scoala GRI SUNCUIUS,Bihor) din acest an. Anul asta am fost promovat- sunt tehnoredactor acum .

Pentru cei interesati, am pus un link de download. E in format PDF ziarul. Sunt doar 2 probleme : prima pagina(coperta) are rezolutie uriasa si exista o pagina goala undeva. In fine, revista este de tip caleidoscop si apare cel putin odata in primul semestru si cel putin de doua ori in al doilea.

La multi ani 2010 !!!

[EDIT] Stiu, deasupra scrie 31 decembrie, nu e setat bine timezonu’ . E defapt trecut de 1 noaptea, 1 ianuarie 2010. Primul post din anu asta .

Va doresc tuturor un an plin de fericire. Un an in care sa fim mai buni, mai entuziasti, mai optimisti, mai plini de viata, mai energici si sa putem degaja energie pozitiva fiecare. Anul acesta sa reprezinte un pas inainte pentru protejarea Terrei, sa fim mai “green”(cine nu intelege, sa fim mai economici) si sa fim atenti cu natura care inca ne iubeste.

Voi posta aici ultimele aprox. 2 minute de artificii, un spectacol foarte frumos, din Suncuius.

Si acum sa revin putin la niste lucruri care ma privesc pe mine. Am asteptat ora 1 noaptea cu speranta ca, probabil, voi putea sa achizitionez un hard-disk extern dupa www.emag.ro. Am intrat pe la 12 jumate( am facut revu’ acasa si, pentru moment fara a ma surprinde fiindca ma asteptam, n-am putut accesa site-ul. Am si facut screenshot, daca nu ma va crede nimeni .

Acum e ora 1:28, si dupa cateva minute mi s-a incarcat pagina cu hdd-uri externe. Si binenteles, dupa cum ma asteptam, promotia nu e generala, e doar pe un singur produs. This sucks. Prima data cu promotiile de Craciun care doar promotii nu erau ci doar o inrosire nesimtita a site-ului pentru a atrage clientii, acum asta.

1. Nu cred ca e ultra-incarcat site-ul de merge asa greu, cred ca e intentionat. O gramada de oameni oricum nu sunt acasa ci chefuiesc.

2.Promotie pe un hdd extern care nu ma intereseaza? Ba voi ma credeti asa prost?

3.Emag, cu o floare nu se face primavara( Alienwareu’). Promotiile astea sunt o palma data in fidelitatea clientilor. Aia care au o bibilica.

[EDIT] Ora 2:05 minute. Ma uit la noua promotie, stocul la 2 din 3 produse este deja epuziat. Ce stoc au astia frate? 2-3 produse pe stoc din fiecare tip ? O.o

In fine, hai gata cu critica. Sunt si ei oameni ). Ca sa fie in favoarea clientilor urarea mea, le doresc un an nou plin de promotii si ieftiniri.
